I am so thrilled to have been blogging for a year now and want to thank you all for your love and support! I love being able to share my DIY projects and home décor with you all and hope to keep some exciting content coming. Later this week I hope to have a post up about my sister's winter wedding that took place this past Saturday. I will save all of the amazing details for a full post but needless to say it was AH-MAZING!!

I may not be the most consistent blogger and this is something I hope to improve over time. I work both a full and part time job in mental health which keeps me pretty busy but I hope to dedicate more time to projects and blogging going forward. I am also starting some in home consulting and will hopefully sell some of my DIY pieces locally so stay tuned :).

This year I really didn't do much for Valentine's decorating (like seriously, nothing) given our busy weekend with the wedding and just wanting to relax since we returned home. I did grab some valentine's mini cupcakes and wore my most festive pjs this morning. I am working afternoons this week so I didn't get to spend the evening with my Valentine's but we were happy to keep things low key this year.

Here is my Valentine's post from last year for some festive inspiration. Enjoy!!

Valentine's Day Decor

As mentioned in the "ABOUT" section, I love to decorate for any and all holidays! Some may say that Valentine's Day is not a holiday, however it is a long weekend here in Canada with Family Day tomorrow Monday February 15th, so February 14th certainly feels more like a holiday this year. Typically my décor becomes very neutral following Christmas with lots of whites, golds and greys for the winter months. Valentine's Day is a great excuse to add pops of colour and fresh flowers around the house. I purchased these flowers from the grocery store for 3 for $20 and arranged them to my liking using vases I already had. My boyfriend was thrilled that I bought MYSELF flowers, HA!

The cursive "Love" sign from years ago comes out to play for V-Day!

I have picked up items over the years from the dollar store to add to my Valentine's décor. This year's purchase included the adorable heart paper straws for the bar top. I also search for free prints online to frame and place around the house for added festive touches.

And decorating with Valentine's candy like cinnamon hearts and sweethears is a must, before it is gobbled up!

I made my first pom-pom garland for the mantle and I will be posting the tutorial if you are interested in making your own.

Some may think it's silly to celebrate Valentine's Day and I agree it is very commercial. But it is nice to look forward to something during the cold, winter months. My boyfriend and I have gone to a concert or away for the weekend in previous years. Or we will keep it simple and order in Chinese or go out for a nice dinner. We also don't do gifts more than a card and maybe some chocolate. How do you spend your Valentines?

Happy love & family weekend!
