This weekend is Thanksgiving and although I am working, it is not stopping me from enjoying some seasonal food + drinks and spending time with family & friends! As a Canadian I love that we celebrate this holiday in October given that it is smack dab in the middle of my favourite season and favourite month! By the American Thanksgiving, I have already set my sights on Christmas :)
I won't be able to attend any family turkey dinners because of work so I have a line up of recipes to get me through the weekend. I made a warm autumn salad; roasted butternut squash, beets, carrots, apple, red onion and quinoa topped with cinnamon, apple cider and balsamic vinegar and honey, served warm with goat cheese. I also made my version of chili mac & cheese, similar to this recipe with a few tweaks. I love easy, re-heatable lunch + dinners that I can take to work, that don't sacrifice flavour.
I do have the holiday Monday off from work so I will be hosting a little get together Sunday night. Some cocktails are in order to combat everyone's turkey comas! We are calling it "Boozegiving" and everyone is bringing their own seasonal drink to share!
Some favourites of mine are cider beer and apple sangria. I am digging the sound of this bourbon + spiced pear cocktail from Holly & Flora;

Thanksgiving isn't the only time of year we should count our blessing but this weekend I am feeling especially thankful for my amazing family & friends, my sweep pup Poppy and our beautiful home! What are you thankful for?
